About
I am an artist, a writer, a teacher, and a wife and mother, but those are just my full time jobs. I also love dogs, crime drama tv series, hot yoga, wellness and natural remedies.
Artist Bio
Laura Kante creates crochet wall hangings and woven wire sculptural forms, either in individual compositions or as large-scale installations. Her work draws a parallel between Fiber Art processes and the emotional processing of healing from emotional trauma. She uses elements such as texture and value to explore dualities, both objective and subjective, including hard/soft, abuse/protection, aggressive/passive, and external/internal.
Kante received her MFA in Fibers from the University of North Texas in 2010, and her BFA in Painting from the University of Houston in 2003. A native Texan, she has been exhibiting statewide since 2001, and currently resides in Prosper, Texas.
